In that half awoken state the mind has to be jolted into working on an over drive and the stress hormones go up. There may be texts from your friends and family, which you can respond after an hour of waking too, but this rush-state that we are perpetually, which makes us to everything NOW. Simply take a moment to breathe. Even though you have a lot of work and deadlines to meet, be thankful for the new day that lies ahead. Having this brief peaceful period to begin the day sets the tone for a good day.
Protecting your peace is basically taking care of your inner world, by prioritizing your well-being . It can also be learning to say ‘No” when required. There may be extra tasks, or plans and invitations that you might not have the energy to do but feel guilty about turning them down, eventually you need to realize it is totally okay putting yourself first. By setting boundaries and prioritizing what truly is important helps you find a sense of inner calm.
Of course, the journey of life is not always a smooth road, and we all hit bumps on the way. These speed bumps may actually be a blessing in disguise, telling you to slow down a bit and live your live more rather than just rushing through it like a race. Make an effort to find gratitude even in the midst of chaos, whether it’s for a supportive buddy, a stunning sunset, or just getting by another day.
Another way to practice protecting your peace is learning to deal with stressful situations. You can’t just avoid stress, but you have to walk through it and eventually you get a hang of it. Make time for things that make you feel calm and joyful. Just for an hour in the day keep your phone aside, and enjoy those moments of quiet. It could be you doing your hobby, catching up with a friend or loved one, alone with your book, or sitting outside in nature just for a while.These tiny bursts of happiness will keep you going during difficult times in life. They are like fuel for my soul. Though it’s not always simple, protecting your peace is important for a holistic living. It’s about assuming responsibility for your own happiness and not allowing other people’s actions to determine how you feel. And in doing so, you will realize you possess a strength and tenacity you didn’t know you had.
